HOW TO PLAY
Locate the 4 hidden, enemy Kings using your Knights and Bishops.
Suggestion: Think of the Clueboard, the chessboard with the
pieces and colors, as separate from the Locationboard,
another chessboard with nothing but the Royals, who occupy
two squares. The Pieces work on the ClueBoard
and the Locator(Yellow Square) works on the LocationBoard.
It will help you visualize the game better.
- There are two possible moves at any point during the
game. Place a Piece or Place the Locator
on the chessboard.
- Place a Piece: Click on a Knight or Bishop
from the tile rack and then click on a square on the
chessboard to place your selected piece. Placing a
piece costs 2 points.
- Place the Locator: Click on the Locator and
then on the location. Correct guesses reveal a King.
Placing a Locator on an incorrect cell costs you a
life.
- Track Kings using clues:
- If a piece is placed and one or more Royals is
within its movement range, the square
will turn GREEN. Else, it will turn RED.
- By definition, the square on which a
piece is placed is not in the movement range of
the piece. So, if a piece is placed on a
King Location, the square can turn RED
or GREEN depending on where the other Kings
are.
Details
- You CANNOT place pieces and Locators on found
kings (YELLOW squares).
- You CAN place pieces and Locators on GREEN
squares and RED squares. How is this useful?
- The impact footprint of a Bishop in a given cell
is different from that of a Knight in the same
cell. Placing a different piece on the same
square can give you additional clues.
- This is useful after the first royal is found
and you have green squares that may not pertain
to the remaining royal. You can place pieces on
any green square and you will get updated
information about that square that can help you
eliminate options.
- Game Over Conditions: The game ends when all Kings are
found or you run out of lives.
